Domestic & Family Violence
Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) is an issue which can affect anyone. Its definition is so broad; you might find it hard to decide if it describes your personal situation. DFV is not just physical abuse; it can also include verbal abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, threats, jealous behaviour, financial control, social isolation and any other behaviour that causes a person to live in fear. It is important to address these issues because of the major impact DFV has on you, your family and the community. Even though DFV usually takes place between two people who are intimate, this is not always the case. The perpetrator of the violence could be a sibling or other family member, or even a housemate. All forms of domestic violence are unacceptable. Experiencing domestic or family violence is not your fault, nor something in which you need to be ashamed. Everyone has the right to live free from violence. Our counsellors work discretely and safely, keeping all communications between you and themselves covert and confidential (except under certain laws, e.g. child protection). Choose a place you feel safe and we will come to you and discuss your options.

Child Abuse
Child abuse and neglect is all forms of physical and/or emotional ill-treatment, sexual abuse, neglect or exploitation, resulting in actual or potential harm to the child’s health, survival, development or dignity. Perpetrators can include adults, young people and older children. Your local child protection legislation has a direct influence on the outcomes of cases that are brought before a court. Legal definitions affect the attitudes and decisions of lawyers and judges. They affect the policies and practices of child protection agencies, and the training and attitudes of practitioners.
